My name is Peter Costello and I am writing poetry and verses for over 30 years. I have written about people places and things. Sporting personalities, politicians, achievements, setbacks, birthdays weddings, births, deaths etc. Pretty soon, the demand for me to write poems became overwhelming. My hobby has turned into a business, and now – as you can see- I officially write Rhymes for Reasons.

I do it because I love it, and because I get a great reaction from people who commission poems for all sorts of occasions, including:

• The birthday of a much-loved pet dog
• A Lottery win by a popular woman
• Political triumphs
• Political defeats, too!
• The Mayo Person of the Year
• Wedding anniversaries, birthdays from five to 100, graduations, and all sorts of special occasions.

I published a book of poetry a few years ago. It is called A Lot of Fact, A Little Fiction. (View pictures from the publication launch). It is a book where the poems tell real stories about real people, about real sporting occasions, about real tragedies, and about real happy celebrations. There are also the few poems where there is a bit of imagination thrown in, hence the name.

A lot of people have asked me to write a verse for a friend of theirs. It might be a thank you for something they have done. It might be to tell their partner, son, daughter, mother, father, etc etc, how much they mean to them. Sometimes we have the best intentions in the world but the words won’t come out right.

This is where I come in. You send me a summary of what you would like to say. I put it in a verse for you. It can be long or short. It can be their life’s story, or it can be a very simple greeting or thank you. It is unlimited what can be done. The poem can be read out at a party, and then a framed copy presented to the host.

Or it can be given to the person at a quite moment in the home, or after enjoying a candlelit dinner. It can have a picture of the person on it, or their place of work, or whatever else would be suitable, (as I said, it is unlimited what can be done)

• It can come in lots of different packages
• A sheet of paper with the verse on it to be read out at an occasion.
• A laminated version
• A framed verse
• A framed verse with a picture of the recipient (etc etc)
• It can be done as a scroll
• It can be done in a variety of different frames and mounts
